I like the cut out which make playing lead and chords up the neck much easier. I didn't replace my original guitar right away because shortly after I bought it the price went up by about half. As soon as I saw it on sale for the price of the first one I ordered it. I have five accoustic guitars now but for some reason I enjoy playing this one more than the others.

It has all of the features of my other guitars in one guitar. If this one breaks I probably would buy a more expensive guitar with the same features. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful? See all my reviews. Ask me a question. The size and quality of these are really very good. I have now purchased 2 of these guitars. On guitars of this nature, some "tweeking has to be done. Since this guitar was probably built in a high speed production situation, I had to sand and smooth the fret edges on the necks of both guitars and also raise the bridges a little with small aluminum strips because of a small amount of "fret buzz" Also, the "piezo" pickup did not work properly so installed a "humbucker" magnetic pickups Hey, what do you want for the price.

Tuner works great too I bought this for my 7th grade daughter. Didn't want to spend too much money on a guitar to see her lose interest. This is a great beginner's guitar. I love the ability to tune the guitar with the built in electronics. I did need to restring it properly, as the bridge pegs that hold the strings in place were not properly set and the strings it came with were pretty poor quality.

My 9th grade son who has been playing for a few years also wants a new guitar. I wouldn't buy this one for him. I will spend more for a guitar with better action and sound. So if you just want to see if you'd like to play guitar, this one is for you! For the price I paid I am very satisfied. I bought this for jamming around the house. Good sound for a lower priced guitar. Stays in tune, good action, no fret buzz. Came that way right out of the box.

First one came without the pickup working. MFS replaced with second one and all is good. Bought this to have something I can use for weird tunings and practice slide without constantly messing with my "good" guitars. This one sounds pretty darn good for as cheap as it is.

If you stretch the strings thoroughly, it will stay in tune for a couple hours. If not, you will have to retune it after songs. Full sound, a bargain at twice the price. Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend. This was my Son's second guitar- has a nice feel- rich sound, he really likes it- an excellent value for the price:. Just had a get together at the house and everyone that played it, liked the fill and sound and enjoyed playing it.

Bought it for my 11yr old grandson, so it should let he get a feel to see if he wants to go further. Amazing guitar for a beginner, I just began learning and didn't want to spend a fortune on something I might pick up once and never use again, but the feel and sound of the guitar made even frustrating practice sessions feel pretty awesome. Good color if a little cheap feeling, but hey, you get what you pay for. Our product catalog varies by country due to manufacturer restrictions.

Dot position markers are traditional but well executed. The fingerboard if it is rosewood has been stained like the bridge to resemble black ebony.

All the blackings probably hide various flaws in the wood surfaces, but they can't hide bad tone. I won't say this guitar has great tone, but it does have pretty darn GOOD tone. Perhaps as a happy accident of its lightness and cheapness. If you need a starter product to test the waters with without really committing to guitar investment, this is probably as cheap and good as its gonna get. If you're flying off on a business trip across the States and can't trust the fate of your precious American made flattop, you can ship one of these suckers now free!

It's a weird consumer world we're living in these days. Enjoy the options while they last. And on the other spectrum, save up for and support our American made products when the time is right. A fine Gibson, Martin, or Taylor are worthy investments in their own right and far beyond the tonal reaches of these starter-outers. Everything you need, but nothing more. Middling for guitars in general, but pretty darn good for this price point, and the criticism is focused more on the quality of materials rather than how it's put together.

I could have gone with 8 or 10, but only time will tell if it holds up. I purchased the Rouge C90 acoustic guitar. The guitar has a very full sound for it's size. Right out of the box the action was good. I was dissapointed that there were I was dissapointed that there were 2 spots on the guitar that were smudged when it was painted.

I ordered the black gloss finish. One spot was next to the sound hole rossette, and the other was to the upper left of the bridge wood mounting. I bought the guitar as a gift for someone so It was embarasing when I opened it up in front of her and we both saw the smudge marks.

The sound and ease of play were ok though. I wouldn't order this guitar again. No quality control I guess at the factory. See all my reviews. Was this review helpful? I really enjoy playing this guitar, especially since it is my first guitar and I am a beginner player. It was very inexpensive and a good instrument to being playing on. I can play good music, while not being afraid if I drop it or break it somehow.

I have no complaints about this great guitar! There are not a lot of special features, but beginning accousitic guitars rarely do. This guitar has all the features to play great sounding music. I have had the guitar for 8 months now and has held up well. I have not had to replace any strings since I got it. The pick guard has gotten some scrates in it, but that is to be expected since that's what the pick guard is designed for.

Nothing has broken on it and doesn't look like it will anytime soon! The sound is very great quality while I've played many songs with and without a pick. This is an extremely good value guitar. It sounds great and is a very good price compared to many guitars. This is my first guitar, but I am very satisfied with the cost, as well as the instrument I received for the cost. The Rogue RA is a great beginner or practice guitar well worth the money with great sound.

However you do get what you pay for so dont have high expectations. It does have small flaws that are visible but do not affect playability. Rogue RA guitar has stanard features like adjustable truss rod, pickguard and rosette.

Decent quality for the price. It's no higher priced guitar. There are some visual imperfections in the finish and not a perfectly smooth sanding job before the finish. I dont think you can find a guitar this cheap anywhere else. I even looked for awhile for used guitars but couldn't get one for the price.

I wasn't as concerned about the quality or sound because this is just a practice guitar I leave at work and will probably get beat up anyway. What a pleasant surprise when it exceeded not only my expectations which I admit were guarded because of the price , but that of the 4 pros who broke it in for me when it arrived.

It arrived in great condition out of the box; no dings, scuffs and I was told required no set up at all. Just the same it's always a good idea to have someone who knows what to look for to give it a good once over should you buy one.

After a good workout from the guys, the intonation remained quite good all things considered and it held tune better than expected. The RA had a lighter lacquer finish than your average guitar which seemed to work in it's favor in producing a nice clear sound.

The higher registers of the fret board also produced little to no buzz. Even the tuning pegs, though obviously not high-end, were a nice presentable polished chrome. As a novice, I wouldn't know what to look for, which is why I had it delivered to my job, where I work with various levels of guitar players, including one who builds guitars and a few self professed "guitar snobs".

I was very pleased with their reaction. All had a great time taking turns playing and looking it over, and agreed that for this ridiculously low price point, it had a nice sound, and for what it was worth, turned out to be a nicely constructed attractive guitar. They felt it was most suitable as a starter for a beginner, or a travel guitar to jam with, leaving the much nicer high end guitars safely at home for bigger and better things.

I can't speak for the other Rogue models, but this particular one had the best reviews pound for pound and can't be beat for the money. Time will tell how well it will hold up. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. I am only 15 years old, but ive been playing guitar for about eight years now, and I bought this guitar about a week and a half ago, and it is awesome. Like it says in the description, you can hear it across the room, you really can hear it from far away.

My neighbor even complained to us about how I was being too loud. I would recommend this guitar to almost anyone because of its feeling, and its sound. And for its cost, it is amazing. You couldnt find a guitar that is this good, anywhere else: The other reviews are pretty spot on, so I won't waste your time repeating them.

Looks extremely cheap and has a strong glue smell. Good guitar overall, stock strings are OK, stays in tune surprise and has a rich almost bright sound, with some warmth. First of all, I am a snobby, critical electric guitar player. I've been playing for about a decade and am very particular about my equipment. I ordered this guitar totally impulsively. I've never had an acoustic. That's not true, I had a Songbird for about two days before I returned it because I was afraid of screwing up the humidity or temperature or something I figured that I couldn't go wrong with such a low price, no tax, free shipping and all 5 star reviews.

Turns out I was right. I expected a piece of junk, to be honest. But at least I'd have something that I could play unplugged. I got it yesterday and it far surpasses those expectations.

One thing not mentioned in other reviews is that this thing is loud. You'd typically expect a cheap guitar like this to sound tinny and subtle but instead, it is loud and bright. It even came with some nice strings on it. This thing is awesome, thank you! Did you send me the right one? I ordered this guitar for the primary reason of putting my infant son to sleep when he arrives in June.

I was looking for something very inexpensive, when I stumbled upon this guitar. It is a great sounding acoustic guitar, but I believe it is limited to a practice instrument.

The neck seems to be all one piece, and the fretboard is carved just fine. Just please understand that you get what you pay for, and that it is in no way a Taylor or PRS acoustic. It sounds great, plays well, and I'm sure it will put the baby to sleep many a night, if it doesn't do the same for me. Buy it, you will enjoy it and be surprised by its tone.

Best guitar value I have seen so far. This is a very basic dreadnought based on the Martin d design. It's a pretty accurate replica even down to the large dot inlays on the fretboard. I didn't expect much at all, but when the guitar arrived it looked beautiful and sounded surprisingly good. Yes it's made out of a laminate, but the dreadnought body really gives it a good volume. I own a Taylor GS5 which is 45 times! Well let me tell you, I enjoy playing them both equally.

I have played a lot of guitars that were much more expensive than this, but didn't sound as good. I am also not worried about bumping this one or scratching it. Ask me a question. I've owned many guitars including a vintage Yamaha FG75 and a 76 Takamine. Several months ago I purchased an Epiphone DR Ebony which I am pleased with after lowering the bridge and adjusting the truss rod. I ordered this guitar because of the price and also I wanted a natural finish guitar.

case

Overall, the construction of the guitar is good, the sound is good, and it looks nice, so it's a great place to start. I decided to learn the guitar for my 40th birthday. I was to be able to perform solo. This guitar sounds great and is easy to learn on! I'll be ready in no time!! My only wish is that it came with a stand, strap or a case. Novices like me have no idea what it needs. I had to go from across the country to New Jersey to visit family for a month and couldn't imagine going that long without playing and quivered at the thought of bringing a dreadnought and awkwardly getting past the flight staff with it and I bought this on a whim cuz it was cheap and I love my other rogue guitars so thought I would try it and I really loved it I played it a ton and loved the bright sound I.

Ask me a question. I use this product to compose and play. A good guitar for taking along on a road trip or to the beach. If you stretch the strings thoroughly, it will stay in tune for a couple hours. If not, you will have to retune it after songs. Full sound, a bargain at twice the price. Many of the dedicated guitar-cleaning products already mentioned also double as polishes, so you can not only clean your guitar, but make it shiny. One word of caution: If a polishing product soaks into exposed wood, future repairs can be extremely difficult. Once your guitar is clean, install a fresh set of strings. If you have a favorite brand and type of strings, by all means, stick with them.

Besides differences in brands, strings have various kinds of windings. But there are more options. Coated strings often sound mellower than uncoated strings, making them a great choice not only for extended life but also for taming an overly bright guitar. You may be surprised by the results. Action can creep up and notes can start to buzz gradually over time.

Guitar stores, teachers, and someguitars owned by friends are great sources for experiencing different setups. Ideal action height depends on your playing style. If your neck looks fine, check the action height at the nut and saddle.

Is the guitar significantly easier to play? If so, the nut or its slots are probably higher than they need to be. Dialing this in takes experience and a bit of time which is why many—especially cheaper—guitars leave the factory with somewhat high action at the nut.

Paying a pro to do it is money well spent. With the exception of certain vintage guitars and vintage-reissue models that have glued-in saddles such as some Martin Vintage Series guitars , the saddles in most flattop and classical guitars can be easily lifted out of the bridge slot, making it easy to modify their height.

If your neck and nut are adjusted properly and your action is still too high, you can lower the saddle by sanding the bottom with sandpaper set on an even surface. Hold the saddle at a perfect degree angle, and, unless you need to lower one side more than the other, make sure you sand the saddle bottom evenly. Thin strips of hardwood are ideal shim material, but evenly cut strips of thin plastic from an old credit card, for example can also be used in a pinch.

If your guitar has a built-in pickup, plug it into an amp to make sure it works. Some jacks need to be tightened from the inside of the guitar requiring thin arms or a special tool , but many can be tightened from the outside. In most cases, the strap-button part of the assembly serves as an outer nut, with a smaller nut between the button and the guitar holding the jack in place. Many of these jacks have a small hole in the shaft, into which a small screwdriver can be inserted to keep the jack from twisting as you turn the tightening nut.

Aim directly into the slider remove the buttons first or pot it usually has an opening on the back for this purpose , and, using the included tube, spray a few shots into it while moving the slider or shaft. In most cases, this will clean things right up. To be extra safe, cover the surrounding area with a rag, or remove the dirty component from the guitar completely.

If you seek further improvement, however, there are a few other modifications you can make. If your guitar has a plastic nut and saddle, replacing them with a harder material may be the single most dramatic improvement you can make.

Bone saddles are the most common upgrade, but synthetic Tusq and fossilized walrus and mammoth ivory are also harder than plastic, and the improvements in volume, sustain, and clarity they provide can be astonishing. Some small adjustments usually have to be made primarily sanding the new saddle to the proper height , but replacing the saddle can usually be done even by a novice. Unless your guitar has a pinless bridge, replacing your bridge pins can provide both a cosmetic and sonic change.

Check to see if your current pins fit in their holes well. Plastic and wood are the most common, but bone, brass, fossilized ivory, water-buffalo horn, and synthetic materials such as Tusq are also popular. The possible tonal differences between the various materials stem from their different densities and weight.

For instance, on many guitars, using a lightweight material such as ebony can result in improved bass response, while a heavier and denser bone or Tusq bridge pin may yield greater volume and sustain. Some people feel that fossilized-mammoth or walrus ivory bridge pins provide an increase in overtones and harmonics. Bridge pins do vary in size and taper, so make sure you get ones that match your guitar—most manufacturers specify which of their products fit particular guitars.

In addition, many players really like the warm, fat tone that these types of pickups offer. But it is also possible to have an undersaddle pickup installed, which is the most common pickup used with factory-installed electronics. An undersaddle pickup can be virtually invisible and offer a natural sound, and it is unlikely to change the acoustic tone of your guitar.

However, unless you have some experience working on guitars, this kind of an installation is best left to a pro. While there is no known cure for GAS, improving the sound and playability of the guitar you already own can help you recapture the excitement you felt when you first brought it home.

It doesn't play so great but please keep in mind that I'm spoiled and have some very expensive and amazing guitars. That being said, this is exactly what I needed for my "slide experiment on a budget". I am using this guitar to write and record music in my newly built home studio. I am happy with its overall sound and feel.

It sounds good overall, just have to tweak the neck a little. Even if your guitar has been carefully maintained and plays like butter, there are easy and inexpensive ways to tickle a bit more performance out of your instrument, like upgrading its nut and saddle, tweaking its tone with different bridge pins, or getting it performance-ready by adding a new pickup.

Inspect your entire guitar for cracks in the finish or the wood, loose binding, or a bridge that has separated from the body. Try pushing a piece of paper under the bridge. If you find anything that looks like it needs to be glued or a significant repair, take your guitar to a professional repairperson. Check to see if any hardware is loose.

Use a proper-size screwdriver to tighten the screws used to mount your strap button, truss-rod cover, preamp, and tuning machines. On most modern steel-string tuners, this may include tightening the bushing that goes over the string post with a box wrench. Give the guitar a good shake and listen for rattles. If your guitar has a pickup, there might be loose wires inside the body.

Secure them with miniature self-adhesive cable clamps. The best way to start is by taking off all the strings so that you have easy access to the entire top and fretboard. However, if your guitar has an undersaddle pickup, you should probably skip this step or just remove half of the strings at a time.

If your guitar is just a bit dusty, wipe off the entire instrument with a soft cloth. Most guitar-accessory manufacturers sell polishing cloths for this purpose, and you can also use a percent cotton T-shirt. If some of the grime on your guitar is too stubborn to be removed with just the dry cloth, moisten the cloth with a bit of water mixed with a few drops of dishwashing detergent.

There are many cleaning products made specifically for musical instruments. An accidental leak could cause serious damage! Steel wool works particularly well on seriously grungy fretboards, and you can also use it to clean your frets. Be sure to move the steel wool parallel with the wood grain, however, to minimize scratching.

Most manufacturers of guitar-maintenance products offer a version of lemon oil for this purpose. I often go several years before applying oil to a fretboard.

But there are more options. Coated strings often sound mellower than uncoated strings, making them a great choice not only for extended life but also for taming an overly bright guitar. Other features include a nato C-shaped neck, simulated rosewood fingerboard, simulated belly bridge, and an ivory color plastic saddle and nut.

I purchased the natural finish of this guitar for my mom who's learning to play, and was quite surprised because of how good this guitar is. I have a collection of different acoustic guitars I have a collection of different acoustic guitars and this guitar definitely competes and is better than much higher priced guitars.

The guitar has a nice lacquer on it that gives a great appearance and when playing it just feels right in your hand. It has a nice pitch when strumming and for what I paid, it's completely exceeded my expectations.

Pay no mind to the price tag, you're not getting a cheap instrument but a great buy that you won't regret. In fact, it's inspired me to purchase the RA acoustic in mahogany. See all my reviews. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Was this review helpful? I've been playing guitar for 27 years and I've owned quite a few acoustic guitars. This is one of three best ones I've played, and it was by far the lowest priced of the three. Normally, I wouldn't recommend that beginners buy a cheap guitar to learn on, since most lower-priced ones are difficult to play and don't sound very good, no matter how well you play.

However, this one is a rare exception. I've owned this guitar mine is a sunburst model for about two years now and I play it at least twice a week.

I'm always impressed by how much guitar it is for the price tag. I've even had a number of compliments on how it sounds from people who are surprised when I tell them how much it cost.

The sustain is long and smooth and the natural harmonics are very prominent, yet pleasing to the ear, even with the stock strings, which were even a bit tarnished upon arrival. The only complaints that I've had about it is that the nut slots were cut a bit rough and the G string tended to bind and break, until I filed it and the B string slot down and added some graphite pencil lead dust to them, and that the tuners don't keep the guitar in tune for more than a day.

However, I've owned a few acoustic guitars that cost three or four times as much this one and I wouldn't trade this for any of them. This guitar may not be able to hold it's own against a Martin, Taylor, or a Guild, and perhaps not even a number of Ibanez acoustics, but it's just an incredibly great guitar for the price and that's the honest truth. Bought this several months ago for my 12 year old grandson; his first guitar.

He plays it ALL the time and it has held up very well. Bought it for a friend who had asked me to tune his unplayable Internet purchase. I have an ovation custom baladeer, taylor ce and this guitar felt so good in my hands and sounded so good I was tempted to keep it and order my friend another. Got this guitar for my young daughter to begin taking lessons. She loves the sunburst finish, which is better than you'd expect at this price. I played the guitar after tuning it up for her, and it has a nice neck and pretty good sound, especially in the low end.

Of course this is not a Taylor or Martin, so some fret cleanup and lowering of the action are in order. Also, some better tuners are an option for down the road.

It looks fantastic for as cheap as it is.

Our product catalog varies by country due to manufacturer restrictions. For example, a great setup can make your old guitar sound and play so much better that it may be almost unrecognizable.
