Vizio E Series The M Series is a good TV for a mixed usage. It has good picture quality in a dark room, good handling of motion and features a nice set of HDR related features. Great choice for movies in a dark room. The Vizio M produces deep and uniform blacks, and it sports a decent local dimming feature that enhances its contrast further.

Vizio M-Series vs TCL P-Series The Battle of Budget 4K TVs

The M Series does an ordinary job with TV shows. It gets decently bright, but it doesn't do a great job at handling reflections. Unfortunately, its upscaling capability is average as well. Decent TV for watching live sports. The Vizio M series handles motion well, and it produces a uniform image free of major blotchiness.

Unfortunately though, picture quality does degrade at an angle. Great Pokies Win Nzd Tuuhr Cctr for video games. The Vizio M has low input lag and motion blur. Games feel responsive, and its image flicker feature can greatly enhance the clarity of motion. It gets decently bright, and it can reproduce a slightly wider range of colors. It's not the best at handling gradients though. Very good HDR gaming performance.

The M Series makes for an average PC monitor. While it supports the necessary resolutions for sharp text, the narrow viewing angle causes edges of the screen to darken from up-close. The input lag, while fine for more casual gaming, can also seem a bit sluggish for use with a mouse. Depending on your use, it may be. The model has a wider color gamut and gets brighter than the M Seriesresulting in a better HDR experience. For SDR content though it is slightly worse due to the fewer local dimming zones resulting in worse dark scene performance.

The model also has better input lag for SDR only, due to the game low latency port. Jun 09, Report Error. I intend on using multiple 4K HDR devices with this television. Is that possible with this display? I see that there is only one HDMI 2. The others are HDMI 1. The other ports aren't HDMI 1. The Roku Ultra may not support 24 Hz either.

Both of which score decent with the Sony being the better overall one. I'm undecided and ask for your recommendation. Go for Dolby Vision or the better overall picture and refresh rate. Thank you and keep up the good work! Thank you for the kind words!

If you watch a lot of sports and play video games on the TV, the XE is a better choice, while the Vizio M Series is better for watching movies.

It has the same wide stand which looks quite good but may be difficult to fit on some tables. While it supports the necessary resolutions for sharp text, the narrow viewing angle causes edges of the screen to darken from up-close. When customizing the TV and using the smart features.

If price is a consideration, the M Series is usually also the less expensive TV. The refresh rate is only important if you like motion interpolation soap opera effectwhich only the Sony XE is able to display. Also note that content that utilizes Dolby Vision is currently limited. Jul 05, Report Error. On your Vizio M Review when it comes to gradient does the Vizio M do a good job with gradients? Like would you see any banding? I had a tv with bad banding on gradients, and it really bothered me.

Jun 20, Report Error. They got the same rating, but I would think the Hz on the model would be beneficial. The model doesn't have motion interpolation at all. When motion interpolation is enabled the will have smoother motion for sports than thebut if you don't like the soap opera effect on the rest of your content you will have to turn it off again every time, which may be annoying.

Motion interpolation also adds artifacts, which are annoying for some. Jun 26, Report Error. Is there any way to get around using Smartcast on my phone? I have a good internet connection, but I can barely find the Vizio under "my devices" and constantly says "no connection available. Instead of using the Smartcast app, you can use the TV like a standard Chromecast and cast to it directly from the app you consume content from on your phone Youtube, Netflix. Vizio is planning a future system update that should bring an onscreen version of Smartcast that will make it easier to access content without having to use an external device.

While you cannot install apps such as KODI on the Vizio M itself, it does support the casting of files through kodi using the "Yatse" remote app. We can't confirm if it will work on Pokies $ To Php Exchange the models, but it worked on the P Series and E Series on the latest firmware.

The unit we've purchased and tested is the same 65" variant linked, and it does only have a 60 Hz refresh rate. You can learn more about the various terminology manufacturers use to confuse consumers in our Fake Refresh Rate article which we update every year.

In some ways it is worse, but it does offer some advantages for HDR. It's significantly brighter, and it sports a wide color gamut, which the previous model lacks. If your usage doesn't really focus on HDR that much, then you might be better off with the model.

Jun 15, Report Error. However in casual usage the difference while noticeable isn't major, both are good TVs. Whether it's worth the higher cost, or saving the money for a sooner upgrade, is up to you. It's coming via software update later this year, although it still doesn't support Amazon video. Boo lack of Amazon, but you can always add a Roku. All of the sizes incorporate 32 zones of full-array local dimmingwhich contributed to its excellent picture last year. All of the models larger than 50 inches had 64 zones, however, so the sets above that size all have fewer zones.

I'm curious to see how that difference affects image quality. The company says it has improved light output and color forwhich might help improve HDR performance. It's also worth noting that all of the sizes use higher-performance VA panels, not the IPS panel found on the inch version of the P series.

Besides the power connector on the right side, all connections and controls are located on the left side of the back of the M After using the same blocky, rectangular remotes for years before experimenting with minimalist designs and remote-free TVs with its SmartCast platform, Vizio has finally rolled out a new, full-featured wand.

It's slimmer than the button-filled bricks of previous models, but has all of the controls you need to navigate the M65's menus. The remote is a narrow 6. Volume and channel rockers and a number pad sit below the navigation pad. It's a functional, comfortable design with enough distinct tactile elements that you can easily use it without looking at it.

Vizio has further developed its SmartCast platform to function more like a complete connected TV interface and not just a built-in Google Chromecast. Pressing the Vizio logo brings up the new SmartCast home screen, which features a prominent row of tiles with suggested content and a smaller row of icons for specific apps and services.

Currently, only ten apps are available through the SmartCast screen: The new remote and SmartCast interface also put full picture controls and system options back on the screen, so you no longer need to use your mobile device to change settings on the TV.

YouTube is notably missing from the selection, along with any form of app store. This is less of a drawback than it initially seems, since you can still treat the M65 as if it had a Chromecast plugged into it thanks to SmartCast, which means you can use your phone or tablet to stream any Google Cast-compatible content to the TV, or Chrome tabs from a PC or Mac, or screen-mirror any recent Android device. Ultimately, the SmartCast interface feels like a series of user-friendly design concessions more than a comprehensive connected service platform, but between the on-screen menus and Google Cast support, it's more than enough.

Using the Murideo generator to produce a pure white rectangle on 10 percent of the screen while leaving the rest black, and forcing the TV into high dynamic range HDR mode, I measured an incredible This is impressive, but for the most fair and consistent comparison with other TVs, the official brightness we record is based on the full-field pattern.

The M65 can show an impressive color range when displaying high dynamic range HDR content. The above charts show Rec. The left chart shows the Calibrated picture mode, while the right shows the Standard mode at the warmest color temperature preset.

The Calibrated mode is designed for standard dynamic range content, and so tamps down on the color range to meet Rec. It's largely successful, though reds are undersaturated and yellows skew a bit green. The Standard mode doesn't limit color range, and displays an impressively wide reach for greens and slightly wider selection of reds, while keeping colors accurate.

The TCL 55P and LeEco Super4 series both offer better color, but the former is much more limited in size options and the latter has inferior contrast. A solid discount on our runner-up wireless earbuds from Samsung, and the lowest price we've seen. The Samsung Level U Pro is our runner-up pick in our guide to the best wireless earbuds. Don't buy the old one from Amazon. But it's still a great set. The P series hardware is identical between the and models. The only difference is that the models don't come with the Chromecast tablet. All the P-series are getting updated with the same firmware that enables on-screen apps instead of relying on casting. Testing that firmware on my PC1 now. Input lag is only 16ms if you're non-HDR though. With HDR, it will be about 43ms, which the majority won't notice.

The 55" model uses an IPS panel instead of VA, so contrast and black level won't be quite as nice on that model.

I have the p The IPS screen looks very good. I can see a very minimal difference between it and VA from straight on. The pro for me with IPS is the viewing angle, it almost doesn't have one. I can stand from the side and the colors don't shift in any noticeable way. Oh, I don't deny that the IPS version is still pretty solid Just something to know when buying.

I have the 50" with the VA panel and though I do see issues at extreme angles, for the most part it is very watchable regardless. IPS is just good for me because my wife and kid like to watch tv from the dumbest angles possible. I use a custom one. I know reviewers say use calibrated but I don't like the yellow hue of "warm". I use "cool" and used the built in calibration guide of the Xbox in settings to adjust my brightness and colors.

I think it looks great, which I suppose is what matters. You may have the updated app, but right now, you have to be on a beta firmware for the P-series to have the on-screen apps, not just the updated app on the tablet. Do an with his name and leave your serial number and model, and he'll add you to the beta test list. Your set will then get an update with the on-screen apps.

Matt has confirmed in that thread that the P-series is hardware-identical to the models, just without the tablet. They won't change the hardware of the display until If you don't want to do the beta, just wait.

This firmware will release for everyone before the end of summer. I think I will wait for the official release, shouldn't be much longer. How has your experience been? I actually really enjoy casting, but I am also a fan of having multiple options for how I navigate content. It works pretty well, but I'm so used to casting at this point that I could go either way.

It's nice to have the option though. The Best Buy model has a cheaper remote that doesn't have the headphone jack for private listening. Other than that they are identical. Lol funny that you just commented on this. I just picked up the best buy version yesterday. Very pleased with it so far. I'm not really an input lag snob, I just want a nice crisp picture and passable performance for a great price seems like the M fits the bill.

Nothing for 55" in the range seems to outperform the M series in a narrow viewing angle from what I can tell after some extensive research. Probably going to bite the bullet at lunch was just wondering what some owners think. The other one in the running was the Samsung MU but it doesnt seem to have as nice a picture from what im reading. The only thing is is that I can't find a review of the new models anywhere.

Does anyone have a new P series 65" by chance? Just curious, what's your budget for 65"? I'm thinking about making the leap but it seems like the price jump is high for the extra 10". It's the same price hike from 65 to 75 pretty much, which is why I stopped looking at the 75's and will stick with a 65 instead. I'm torn between a few different brands though, I have a Sony d and I actually like the Andriod OS, I like having Kodi installed right on the tv lol for my odd ball older cartoons and stuff you can't find anywhere else , though sticking an RPi on the back of the tv isn't difficult.

I have a 65" P and I've enjoyed it so much over the past year, I just picked up a 50" M for the bedroom. This one is a really good at everything. I could never get the Chromecast to work correctly so we just bought a Roku Premier which I've always preferred over Apple and Chromecast anyways.

The Audio as it is with all Vizio TV's leaves a bit to be desired. So if you have a sound bar or other options use it. Reflections can be annoying if you can not avoid direct sunlight , but on the plus side so far it is only sunlight that has been the issue house lighting led for me has not bothered it. Anyways, I pulled the trigger! TV is sitting in all its glory in my living room. Got from Vizio website for yes, including tax!! Downside is that it does not have a TV tuner and no apps built into the system.

On the plus side, built-in Chromcast is amazing and I have zero issues in casting 4k from Netflix and other sources. I'm waiting for next years model. The went down to 32 LED zones and the input lag still isn't where I want it. I have the Vizio md0 and I love it, input lag can be tad high in hdr but it's good outside of HDR.

Maybe I'm an "input lag snob" but I could definitely feel it, especially in 60fps shooters. I was losing engagements with other players because of it.

If you have great reflexes to begin with, a little input lag is probably fine. I'm 32 and much slower than I used to be. Got rid of the M and got another TV with half the lag.

Made a huge difference. As far as picture quality goes, it was gorgeous. My current TV is edge-lit and I sure do miss those 32 dimming zones. I just purchased that model recently myself. My only word of caution is if you are a cord cutter and use an antenna for local channels there is no coaxial input so you will need a box otherwise it's a good TV. Only about bucks I think? That would have worked but this TV is not my gaming TV. I just returned mine for this reason. Is there not a way to get hdr 4k and arc with the Xbox: Nope I returned my tv because of it too.

Called vizio a bunch of times all they said was to use optical audio instead for my sound bar. Was a shame because it was a nice picture and good bang for your buck

not examine now

I don't get it. I bought one of these in March and love it would totally recommend. On a side note, anyone that has the M series if you have any suggestions or guides to calibrating your display I would love to know.

Im terrible at that stuff. Does anyone know if if you can watch 4k HDR content from the smart tv apps itself? Like if I load up the netflix app on the TV will I get 4k? I played around with it for a while and eventually decided its impossible. I might be wrong but seems like all those apps rely on Chromecast streaming which isn't 4K capable. You can get the Samsung 55" KS for under a grand now. I have the 65" and it is fantastic. Input lag is half that of the ME0.

I was looking at that one but its a bit above my pricerange especially in Canada. We get reamed up here for consumer electronics.

Looks amazing though, consider me jealous. Why would you buy a Vizio when it's been established they don't care about user data security?

I would buy it now: Using the Murideo generator to produce a pure white rectangle on 10 percent of the screen while leaving the rest black, and forcing the TV into high dynamic range HDR mode, I measured an incredible This is impressive, but for the most fair and consistent comparison with other TVs, the official brightness we record is based on the full-field pattern.

Sunlight appears warm and natural, and the greens and blues of the plants and water of the "Islands" episode are vibrant without appearing oversaturated.

Fine details like the texture of sloth fur in both shade and direct sunlight are crisp, without anything appearing washed out or muddy. The M65's strong contrast is apparent in the burning lab fight in Deadpool. The yellows and oranges of the flame are bright and natural, while shadows in the same shot retain plenty of detail without appearing washed-out. In other parts of the film, the red of Deadpool's costume looks well-saturated and accurate.

Pacific Rim looks excellent on the M65, with the strong contrast and wide color reach in HDR complementing the dark, rainy fights. The neon signs of the city and the glowing energy of the kaiju are bright and vibrant, and shadow details like pilot armor and the unilluminated kaiju body parts come through clearly.

Input lag is the amount of time between when a TV receives a signal and the screen updates. In Calibrated mode, the M65 shows a mediocre The Computer picture mode only slightly reduces this to 39ms. The 40ms range is still acceptable for most gaming, but if you're dedicated and competitive, or focus on timing-heavy genres like fighters, our list of the best TVs for gaming offers some alternatives.

Under normal viewing conditions, the M65 consumes watts in the brighter Calibrated picture mode and 91 watts in the Calibrated Dark picture mode, which dims the screen but remains very watchable for low-light settings. This is in line with other inch TVs; the Vizio DE0 uses and 70 watts in the same modes, but its panel isn't as bright and it doesn't support HDR with wide color gamut.

The Vizio M-series offers very solid performance and a strong selection of connected features for a reasonable price. It doesn't quite hit the incredible value proposition of TCL's inch 55P, but since the and inch models in that line are no longer available, Vizio currently offers the best choice for screen sizes in this price range.

Calibrated picture mode isn't as accurate at it should be. Vizio's M-series of 4K TVs combines excellent picture quality with reasonable pricing for a very compelling value. Vizio's M-series shows that you can get an HDR-worthy picture without spending too much.

This review is based on testing performed on the ME0, the inch model in the series. The M65's design is simple without looking too plain. The screen is framed by a flat, matte black bezel measuring 0. The sides of the bezel are capped with lines of textured, silver-colored metal that add a subtle bit of style.

The TV sits on two widely placed V-shaped metal feet. Like all models with separate feet for a stand, make sure the surface on which you place it is large enough to hold both at once, especially since the feet on the M65 are located so close to the edges.

Vizio provided a Murideo SIX-G signal generator for measurement comparison, which was used for a very specific alternate test and did not affect the numbers formally recorded in our measurements or our evaluation of the TV.

In Calibrated picture mode with the color temperature set to the warmest preset Normal , the M65 showed a respectable peak brightness of It also showed an excellent black level of 0. The excellent TCL 55P outshines it on both contrast 25, If you want better contrast, you'll need to spend much more for a Samsung MUseries. The M65 shows the potential to get wildly bright depending on the situation, thanks to its LED backlighting array that can adjust how much power is sent to a particular section of the screen for illumination.

It also features a USB port for connecting a portable drive. You can use your smartphone as a remote with the SmartCast Mobile app. This is a tuner-free display. If you use an external antenna to watch local over-the-air broadcast TV signals, a TV tuner is required and sold separately. There is no difference in the item itself. Your cart is currently empty.
